Project Voter ID Spread the Vote's canvassers travel door-to-door to find voters who need help assembling the right set of documents for their state's voterID requirements. The canvassers needed a mobile app to record which voters need help, and the team also wanted a CRM system to track progress helping these voters. Ragtag worked with Spread the Vote to provide mobile apps and back-end data management for their organizers. With a system built by Ragtag combining off-the-shelf software and custom synchronization tools, Spread the Vote can focus on their core mission. We launched in Georgia and Virginia is next.

Bidwire Although local government information is widely available online, constituents have the responsibility of checking for new information. Project Bidwire checks government websites automatically, emailing updates to interested parties. Originally created to watch government procurement sites, it's also used to keep citizens informed about city council agendas. Its technology will form the basis for Ragtag's other scraping projects.

Resistr (formerly Action Aggregator) Ragtag's Resistr is a platform-neutral source of truth for activism actions. In the wake of the 2016 elections, many activist groups began publishing calls to action (CTAs) to their members, ranging from phone calls to in-person events to letter-writing campaigns. Through Resistr, anyone who wants to focus on inspiring meaningful activism, rather than building software, will be able to focus on their strengths rather than having to own their full “stack”. Likewise, it will serve as a backend to websites and other mobile apps, permitting them access to a broad range of actions to take. Resistr has three components: a database of actions, a data entry layer with a scraping toolkit, and a data API. Ragtag has partnered with a number of organizations and is actively soliciting other partners to contribute and distribute timely call-to-action data.

Nomad: Carpool to Canvass Activists from solidly blue districts need ways to travel to contested districts where their work will have a greater impact. Inspired by technology built in 2016 that allowed thousands to travel from California to Nevada, Nomad helps volunteers form carpools to travel from their home location to a canvassing event, making it easier to participate in political activism. We're hoping this will be used in state elections in 2017 and the 2018 midterms to as great effect as it was in 2016!
